Karl's Books, Home of the Book Fairy

The kids at UNC Hospitals Chapel Hill Pediatric Oncology Clinic benefit from reading books to help them escape from boredom, being scared and feeling bad. We are providing them with books they can read in the clinic or take home and we could use your help. We are collecting tax deductable donations and new or gently used children's book for ages preschool to early teens. We are also collecting preschool Spanish/English books.

In Karl's Memory

Our beautiful 13 year old son, Karl, died on March 25, 2007 after a three year fight from a brain stem brain tumor. Karl loved to read and we created Karl's Books in his memory.

Board Books Needed

Every time Donna and I go to the clinic to replenish the book shelves, we find the drawer that holds the board books empty. We could use more donations for our youngest readers.

Book Donation Suggestions

**New or gently used books for children ages 1-mid teen.

**Gently used does not include:
Books that have been written in.
Books with torn pages.
Adult books.
Text books.
Please do not include books that make noise. The repeated noise is often annoying in the busy clinic.

**These books are for children who are not feeling well, or need a distraction. Please include books you enjoyed as a child or that your own children have enjoyed. We want these children to feel special. We want them to feel cared for.

Tax deductible donations are appreciated.
